Another new recipe--Creamy Crab Casserole with Asparagus. This recipe was just 'okay.' While I really like crab, it was a little on the bland side even with all the extra spices I added (the recipe only called for pepper).

My shopping loot! Saved almost $100 with my coupons.

Did some shopping today.....focused on sales and coupon deals. Here is the loot I ended up with. Full price total of all items would have been $228.30......minus $98.26 in coupons.....Grand Total--$130.04.

The power went out yesterday afternoon, and ended up being out for about 24 hours. A huge storm blew through the area leaving a path of destruction and lots of fallen tress. Here are a few pictures of fallen trees, taken only a mile or two from house.

This tree fell across the road, and broke a huge section of chain
link fence and closed the road until it could be cleaned up.

Some of the tree remains on the other side of the road.

Today is a two-parter!

Broken window pane now fixed! Yay me! Ariana has a bad habit of hitting the window glass with her front paws when she sees my parents car pull in their driveway. So, this is the second window pane I’ve replaced in the last year (but this time I did it by myself).....in her defense these are the original window panes that were put in when the house was built (sometime in the 70’s) so they are old and brittle.

Made charred tomato and chicken tacos, with rice and beans for dinner tonight. They were delicious! My dad liked them, but suggested adding feta cheese to them next time. He’s right, some feta would add another dimension to the already great flavor.

I was given a large sum of money today--100,000,000,000,000!!! Yes, you read that right 100 trillion! Oh what to do, what to do with all that money--maybe I should pay off my student loans, buy a house, go on vacation....maybe some new dog toys for the “kids”.....maybe buy myself several school so I can go back to work, and hire some of the great teachers I’ve worked with over the years. Oh, what to do, what to do? Any thoughts or suggestions out there??? Hmmmm, have I mentioned that this 100 trillion comes from Zimbabwe, and the Zimbabwe dollar has been suspended indefinitely? So much for all those big dreams--at least I got to feel rich for a brief moment. :-)

Was in Albany running an errand and decided to stop at the pet store. I ended up buying a new toy for my "girls" today. It is an alligator bottle cruncher. Ariana loves to just lay on the floor and constantly crunch the bottle so she can hear the noise it makes, and Annabelle seems to find more pleasure in stepping on the bottle to make the crunching sound.

Both of the dogs love to play with empty water bottles, but must always be supervised because they destroy them. With this you put the bottle inside and they can crunch and play until their hearts are content, with the fabric protecting the sharp edges of the bottle.

Bargain shopping today. I bought 3 new pairs of slacks (2 khaki and 1 navy blue), 2 dress jackets, and 3 shirts for $40....had I paid full price it would have been about $140. Score!!
